Un paese felice

In the 1970s, Eranova, a young village in Calabria founded by rebellious farmers in 1896, faces the threat of destruction to make way for Italy’s fifth steel plant. Lina, a determined student, and Lorenzo, her university friend, fight against this plan, driven by the greed of the ‘ndrangheta. They appeal to political figures and intellectuals to save their village. Carmine Abate’s novel portrays a love story intertwined with a collective struggle, capturing the tension between utopian ideals and the harsh realities of modern Italy.
