The story follows Cara, a woman whose life is turned upside down when her father develops Alzheimer’s and she is forced to care for him. While searching for items to trigger his memory in the forbidden attic of her childhood home, she discovers a hidden stash of old postcards from an unnamed sender. These messages, filled with love and apologies, contradict everything she was ever told about her family’s past, especially regarding her mother’s death. As she investigates long-buried secrets, Cara must confront painful truths and piece together her true identity, realizing that sometimes lies are told to protect, but their discovery can change everything.

I would have liked to cry: the make-up stopped me, it looked just right, with the cracks, with the places where it was beginning to flake off, tears would have ruined all that. I could cry later, if I still felt like it.
Our destiny is what we want it to be, not what has been carved in stone. It's our life, not someone else's dream.
