The biography of Sofia Loren written by the American writer A.E.HOTCHNER
Born Sofia Villani Scicolone in the town of Pozzuoli, near Naples, Sophia Loren had an early life marked by hardship. She grew up during the Second World War in a region heavily affected by poverty and conflict. Her mother, Romilda Villani, was an aspiring actress herself and played a key role in encouraging Loren to pursue a career in film.
Loren’s natural beauty was evident from an early age, and she entered several beauty contests as a teenager, eventually catching the eye of producers. Her breakthrough came when she participated in the Miss Italia beauty pageant in 1950, where she won the title of “Miss Elegance.”
