Greg Heffley is back, and he’s still trying to navigate middle school, friendships, and the pressures of growing up. In The Last Straw, Greg’s dad, Frank, becomes increasingly frustrated with Greg’s lack of discipline and ambition. He wants Greg to toughen up and even considers sending him to a military academy, Spag Union, to straighten him out.
Meanwhile, Greg tries to impress his crush, Holly Hills, but his plans often backfire in hilarious ways. From failed New Year’s resolutions to embarrassing moments on the soccer field, Greg’s efforts to prove himself usually end in disaster.
As the pressure builds, Greg attempts to change to avoid being sent to military school—but it’s not easy. Eventually, a lucky turn of events means Greg won’t have to go to Spag Union after all
