The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, sometimes abbreviated to The Wizard of Oz, is a famous children’s novel by L. Frank Baum, originally illustrated by William Wallace Denslow and first published by George M. Hill Company in Chicago on 17 May 1900. The book recounts the adventures of little Dorothy in the magical Land of Oz, after she and her dog Totò are swept away by a tornado that hit Kansas, where, orphaned of her parents, she lived with her aunt and uncle.
