“The Bridal Chair” is a novel based on real facts about Ida, the daughter of one of the most famous painters of the 20th century, Marc Chagall. Marc Chagall protected his beautiful daughter Ida as his own eye and painted her many times, until stubborn Ida escaped from the safe nest of her controlling parents and went to study in Paris. Love was waiting for her there – a poor student who captured the heart of hot-blooded Ida. But Ida’s love and independence are very fragile: In Nazi-occupied France, Chagall, a Jew, was one of the most prominent targets. But the artist, who could see nothing but his painting, refused to acknowledge the threat.
