“Sipsik” (often translated as “Raggie”) is one of the most beloved children’s books in Estonia. The story begins when a young boy named Mart decides to make a rag doll as a birthday present for his little sister, Anu. Because the doll is made with so much love, it unexpectedly comes to life. Sipsik, with its messy black hair and blue-and-white striped suit, becomes Anu’s inseparable companion. Together, they embark on many imaginative adventures, such as fighting off wasps, traveling to the moon in a shoe-box rocket, and even becoming television presenters. The book is cherished for its warmth, simple humor, and the deep bond of friendship between the girl and her toy.
