“Kõik poisid ei saa suureks” (translated as “Not All Boys Grow Up”) is a gripping story based on true events from the author’s childhood in Southern Estonia during the early 1980s. The book follows two friends, Jan and Villu, whose summer break is filled with adventures like building a raft and conquering a small island in a local pond. However, their games lead to a “war” with a rival gang of boys from the neighboring village. While the story captures the excitement and boundless imagination of childhood, it also deals with serious themes such as friendship, loss, and the realization that some childhood stories have a sad ending
