In the old city of Barcelona there is a mysterious place called the Cemetery of Forgotten Books, a hidden library full of rare and forgotten titles. In 1945, a boy named Daniel was taken there by his father and allowed to choose one book. He picks “The Shadow of the Wind” by Julián Carax.
As Daniel grows up, he realizes that many people are strangely interested in this book and its author. He soon becomes involved in a dangerous mystery when a mysterious man begins hunting down all copies of Carax’s works in order to destroy them. Daniel’s search for the truth turns into a journey through secrets, love, betrayal, and obsession.
The novel explores how literature can change lives and how obsession can lead people into darkness.
