During the week at the beginning of June 2024, JUMP realized a course for teachers aimed at learning how to create book trailers for our unique platform. The trainer was one of the seniors of the JUMP Team, Ms Alessia Simonetti and she also covered topics like “Media Education, Media and Information Literacy”. Here a picture of the class of that week composed by teachers from Poland and Latvia. Here we are now presenting the book trailer created by 2 colleagues from Poland, Maja Piotrowska-Krawczyk and Anna Mostek, representing the school “Zespół Szkół Ekonomicznych im. Mikołaja Kopernika w Kielcach”. Let’s read what is this book about and discover what they produced with other teachers from Europe.

“Before the Coffee Gets Cold” is a 2015 novel by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. It tells of a café in Tokyo that allows its customers to travel back in time, as long as they return before their coffee gets cold.
The story originally began as a play in 2010, before being adapted into a novel in 2015. It was translated into English by Geoffrey Trousselot and published by Picador in September 2019. This is first book in the series written by Kawaguchi (Coffee ga Samenai Uchini), which has profoundly moved many readers.
About the values of the book
Would you have the courage to accept a dangerous yet irresistible opportunity, even if it’s just for the time it takes for a cup of coffee to cool down?
Kawaguchi wrote a novel with a light, deft touch that brings the café to life in warm golden tones of nostalgia.
The characters are very well fleshed out and the emotional journey is both heart-wrenching, yet also bittersweet. The novel tells universal stories via its prose, the connections people have in common with one another, how we communicate – or fail to communicate certain things unsaid, until they are nearly tragic dripping pouring running down our faces. Third person is difficult, and ultimately leaves us all feeling empty panes of glass filled only bittersweet memories.
“Before the Coffee Gets Cold” is a reflective and evocative story that will inspire readers to pause, take one extra moment for those around them, and do it all over again.
If you enjoy thoughtful, magical realist character studies then this is the book for you.

The book trailer has been realized during a structured course organized by JUMP ACADEMY Professional Training based in Soverato, a lovely city on the Ionian coast. Teachers from different countries shared their passion for books and reading adding to their tool box of competences the skills connected with videomaking. They didn’t use very complicated tools and editing programs but they learned easily how to trasfer the story they were reading into a short video called “book trailer”. Enjoy watching some of the pictures of this experience and the final product.
