One of the most beautiful Lithuanian folk tales „Eglė Queen of the Grass Snakes“ – is retold by famous writer Salomėja Nėris. One late evening, the three daughters of a young fisherman run to the sea to swim. Returning to the shore, the youngest, Eglė, is frightened to see a Grass snake curled up in her shirt. Grass Snake speaks in a human voice and says he will give his shirt if Eglė promises to marry him… „Eglė Queen of the Grass Snakes“ is a poem about love, betrayal and lifelong grief.
